Ordered the 18" Marty round over and completed the build. Very impressed with GSG both as a company, and its products. The material and cuts of my order were perfect and made it extremely straight forward to assemble. Clear and comprehensive instructions were a big part of the successful result of the build process. Support was amazing and Kevin was excellent for any questions that I had, with very quick replies. The sound is obviously the main feature that I was looking for and the Marty exceeded my expectations. Paired with a strong 18" driver and 1000+ watts rms amplifier this Marty is almost too loud to turn up. The efficiency and response of this solid enclosure its nothing short of amazing. I fully intend to purchase another enclosure from GSG in the future and I've shown neighbors and friends my completed media room and they are just astounded at the subwoofer. I highly recommend GSG and look forward to my next project.
Ordered 2 18” sealed BTS enclosures and amps. Was my first build and the customer service from Kevin was incredible right from the start. He ensured the enclosure fit my driver and went above and beyond ensuring everything was just right. During the build he answered any questions I had and even after the build was complete he assisted with helping me get everything working right in my setup. Outstanding customer service and product. I highly recommend GSG.
Kevin and Jason are wonderful people to engage in business with. The customer service and support is top notch. The professionalism, product quality, fit and finish are truly above the rest. There is a reason why there are so many great reviews for GSG Audio. They are doing something different. They care.
This was my first purchase from GSG, and I was very impressed by the level of customer service! Within a couple of hours of placing my order online, I received a call from the owner to tell me about the "build to order" status of the amplifier I purchased, and how it usually shipped within 2 to 3 weeks. That was fine with me as I was still assembling parts for my build. Six days later I got notification that my amp was shipping, again far exceeding my expectations! Suffice it to say, I would definitely recommend GSG Audio for all your "end-game" subwoofer needs!
GSG has a really great product. Apparently a lot of people agree and they are growing rapidly. The only real downside is that between their rapid growth and some of the pandemic related supply chain issues, I did have some delays in getting my drivers. GSG was always good about taking my calls and letting me know the status of my order. I did have to wait a few weeks to get everything, but eventually everything arrived and nothing was damaged in shipping.
So, I just worked on building the cabinets while I waited for the drivers to arrive. The cabinets are not that difficult to build, but you will needs lots of clamps and a lot of glue. I would read each assembly step all the way through to the end before assembling each step. There may be an important tip on the next page that you will miss if you don't read the entire step first. Then dry fit it together. A rubber mallet was occasionally needed for encouragement of a stubborn piece. Also, I sometimes used a clamp to push an item into exact alignment. A big parallel clamp like a "Bessy" works great for this. If you are careful in your assembly, you will have less sanding and filling later.
Now that they are built they sound amazing. With the right source material they produce a very crisp clean sounding bass. When the bass goes really deep it is something you more feel then hear. For example on David Gilmour's "Coming Back to Life" there is a steady low note, probably from a synthesizer that just shakes the whole room. It is a little hard to describe, but when the bass is so clean the voices and other instruments stay very distinct and separated from the bass. In other words when the bass is clean and under control then the voices and guitars really cut through the mix and stand out rather than getting lost in a muddy sounding mess.
I'm still working on my "Man Cave". I am painting and installing base board and trim right now. It has a home theater area, but it is not a full dedicated theater room. I combined the subs with three DIY tower speakers. I used the subs as a stand to get the right and left speakers on the same level as the screen. They are bolted together to insure that the towers won't fall over. I also put some heavy duty castors on the subs so they can easily be moved around. I have to say these pair very well my towers. The towers have dual 6" drivers. They handle the 80 to 1500 portion of the music up to where the tweeters take over. I wouldn't put these in a formal living room painted as they are, but in my "man cave", with my air hockey table and large format art work, they fit in just fine. I will send some more photos when everything is completed and cleaned up.
When it came time to research subwoofer enclosures after I had an unfortunate incident with another driver manufacturer going out of business I came across GSG Audio Design. I wanted to try something different. I was looking for enclosures for extra-large drivers, 18" plus. I noticed that very few companies offer enclosures for 21" subwoofer drivers. I liked what I saw on their website and the performance reviews where astounding. As I enjoy woodworking I placed the order for two 21" Devastators. After about two weeks I received a tracking number. I spent the next week and half building the enclosures. Whenever, I had questions Kevin was a wealth of information. He offered me tips and tricks throughout the process particularly when it came to the finish. The performance of the product cannot be understated. Yes, they are large and foreboding but nothing I have ever had comes close to the efficiency, power, and bass quality that was presented to me. For the price, you cannot beat the performance, period.
A few years later I reached out via the Facebook group GSG Audio Owners and Subwoofer Fanatics regarding trouble I was having with my QSC amplifier. The group is a tremendous resource for all your build, testing, integrating, and troubleshooting questions. When it became apparent I had to scrap the amplifier Kevin offered me a very nice discount on one of their partner’s products, SpeakerPower. They are a small and upcoming company right now that is relatively unknown but based on my experience working with the General Manager and Kevin they went out of their way to answer all my questions and concerns. When I had a problem with the audio output connections I was personally contacted and offered a complimentary high quality solution using adapters. I chose the top of the line SP12000 which supports a three wire, incoming 240-volt power source. So far I have been very impressed with its performance and output headroom. Look no further for the best sustained low frequency output. These amplifiers are set apart in maximum, long duration output from the competition.
I worked with Kevin at GSG to pick out the perfect box for me. I went with the MartyCube. Shipping was excellent and it was here very quickly. The printed instructions were so easy to follow, and the precision of the CNC cut wood made it such a breeze. You really only need some wood glue and clamps to assemble their boxes. Fit and finish was perfect, and I painted it with some Duratex. Not only do you get a fantastic product, but the knowledge and willingness to help from GSG is top notch! I would highly recommend!!
I reached out to gsg on Facebook and once talking to Jason at gsg he was able to help me figure out what I needed. I placed my order for 2 finished marty cubes. Since there was supply chain issues after placing the order I upgraded to the tbw100 drivers since they would be in stock next. Once the sub was finished and ready to ship they worked with me even more. The estimated delivery day was the day before my wedding then I would be out of the country and unable to take delivery. I was able to get in contact with Kevin at gsg and explain the situation and they were able to hold shipment until I got back. Having them in my home they are a beast. I have them in a large open living room and they have no trouble keeping up and have more to give. Will be shopping here again when I get more room.
